Edit a task
Tap or click a task’s words to change them. Enter or tapping away saves, Esc cancels, and the buttons above the list do the rest.

Change the words
- Tap or click the task’s words. They become a box you can type in.
- Make your change.
- Press Enter, or tap or click somewhere else, to save it.
Esc puts the words back as they were. While you’re typing, Undo takes back your typing first.
On a computer, ↑ and ↓ move on to the task above or below.
Bold, italic and links
- Bold or italic: select the words, then tap or click B or I at the top of the list. On a computer, Ctrl+B and Ctrl+I do the same (Cmd on a Mac). Press it again to take it off.
- A link: type or paste a web address that starts with
https://. It becomes a link when you save. For a link under the task instead, see Attachments. - A new line inside a task: Shift+Enter, on a computer keyboard.
Split or join tasks
- Split: put the cursor in the middle of the words and press Enter. The rest becomes a new task below.
- Join: put the cursor at the very start of a task and press Backspace. It joins the end of the task above. If the task has a priority, label or date in front, each Backspace takes one of those off first.
The editing tool bar
While you edit a task, a second row of buttons shows under the first:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| 🏷️ | Labels |
| 📝 | A note under the task |
| ☀️ | Plan it for a day |
| 📅 | A due date |
| ⋯ | Everything else |
| ↓ ! !! !!! | Its priority |
⋯ holds the rest: a reminder, waiting on someone, attach a picture, snooze, Won’t do, make it a subtask, move it to another section or list. On a computer, right-click the task for the same things in one menu.
