Won’t do
Close a task you’ve decided not to do, without calling it finished. A repeating task can skip this time instead.

For a task that won’t happen: it was canceled, someone else did it, or it stopped mattering. It’s closed and kept as a record, but it isn’t counted as finished and earns no Light.
Close a task as Won’t do
On a phone
Tap the task, then ⋯ › Won’t do.
On a computer
Right-click the task › Won’t do.
A note says Closed as Won’t do., with Undo.
The task goes to the bottom of its section with the finished tasks, so it’s hidden until you turn on Show finished. It shows Won’t do after its words, and it leaves Today’s Plan.
Skip a repeating task this time
A repeating task has ⏭ Skip this time in the same place. It stays open and moves on to its next date, and a note says when that is (“Skipped this time: next on Fri.”).
A habit has neither.
Bring it back
On a phone
Turn on Show finished, then swipe the task to the right.
On a computer
Turn on Show finished, then click the task’s box (it shows ⊘).
Opened this way, it doesn’t go back into Today’s Plan. Undo in the note right after you close it puts it back as it was, planned too.
