Hand something off and not forget it
Asked someone else to do it? Mark the task ⏳ waiting, set a day to chase it, and check Waiting On to see everything you’re waiting for.
Once you’ve asked someone to do something, it’s out of your hands but not off your mind. Keep it in Ring List, marked as waiting, so you can let it go until it’s time to chase.

Mark it waiting
Open the task’s menu (on a phone, tap the task and then ⋯; on a computer, right-click it) and choose ⏳ Waiting on someone. Or type @waiting in the task.
From the next day, the ⏳ shows how long it has waited, such as 3d or 2w. After a week it turns amber. See Waiting on someone.
Set a day to chase it
If it has to be back by a certain day, give it a 📅 due date. To be reminded to ask again, open its menu and choose 🔔 Remind me…, then choose when. See Reminders.
See all you’re waiting for
Open All Lists, press the view button (first in the tool bar) and choose Waiting On. Everything you’re waiting for, from every list, is there, the longest wait first. Look at it once a week, as part of a weekly review.
With AI on, Today’s brief may also nudge you about a task that’s waited a week or more. Press Nudged once you’ve chased it, or Not yet.
When it’s back
- Done? Tick it off.
- Back in your hands? Open its menu and choose ⏳ Waiting on someone again to take the ⏳ off.
