Working in a shared list

Everyone sees each change as it happens. Your plan, your Light and your habit check-ins stay your own. Recent changes says who did what.

A shared list works like any of your lists. Changes show for everyone as they happen. When two people change it at the same moment, both changes are kept; if they change the same thing, the later change wins.

A task someone else ticked off says who, like done by sam: the part of their email before the @.

What’s shared, and what’s yours

Shared with everyone in it: the list’s tasks, sections and notes, and its labels, which are the owner’s. In a shared list you pick from the owner’s labels, not yours.

Yours alone:

  • Today’s Plan. Planning a shared task puts it in your plan only.
  • Light. You earn Light for the tasks you tick off, not for theirs.
  • Habit check-ins. A habit in a shared list is everyone’s, but each person checks in for themselves.
  • Where the list sits on your Ring Lists, its color, and whether it’s in All Lists.

See who did what

The Share card for a list shared with you: its people, Leave this list, and Recent changes

Open the list’s ring menu on Ring Lists and choose Share…. At the bottom, Recent changes lists the last 15 things people did, newest first: “sam ticked off Coffee beans · 9:41 AM”. Anyone in the list can see it.

Reminders

A task’s reminder goes to everyone in the list who has notifications on. To stop them for one list, choose Turn off notifications in its ring menu. Other people’s changes never send you a notification.

Can view only

If you were given Can view, the top of the list says You can view this list; its owner can let you edit it. You can read it, but you can’t tick off, add or change anything.

Leave a list

  1. Open the list’s ring menu on Ring Lists and choose Share….
  2. Press Leave this list.

It goes from your Ring Lists and your Today’s Plan at once.
