Plain lists
A plain list is a list of things, not things to do: groceries, packing, books to read. Its tasks earn no Light and stay out of Today’s Plan.

Some lists aren’t things to get done: a shopping list, a packing list, books to read, gift ideas. Make one a plain list, and it keeps out of your plan and your Light.
Make a list plain
On a phone
On Ring Lists, hold the list’s ring, then let go without moving. Tap Make it a plain list.
On a computer
On Ring Lists, right-click the list’s ring › Make it a plain list.
A note says so, with Undo.
To change it back, choose Make it a task list in the same menu.
What changes
- Its tasks earn no Light. Light they earned before stays.
- They can’t be planned for a day (☀️ is grayed out) or focused on.
- They’re left out of Today’s Plan, the morning plan, and All Lists’ views and ring.
Everything else works as before: ticking things off, sections, subtasks, notes, pictures, due dates and reminders. Search All still finds them.
In a shared list, it’s your own choice: the others keep theirs.
After a Google Keep import
With AI on, after you import from Google Keep, a strip on Ring Lists may say some of the new lists “look like lists of things, not things to do”. Tap Review to see them, each ticked. Untick any that are really to-dos, then tap Make them plain lists. Undo puts them back.
Not now puts the suggestion away.
