Find a task
Press 🔍 to search the list you’re in, or Search All to search every list with filters. Save a search you use often to open it in one step.
Search the list you’re in
- Tap 🔍 in the tool bar. On a computer you can also press /.
- Type what you’re looking for.
The matching words light up and the list goes to the first match. The count says which match you’re on and its section: “1 of 5 · in Garden”. Use ↑ and ↓ to step through them, or on a computer Shift+Enter and Enter. ← or Esc closes the search.
It finds the letters you type, in tasks, section titles and notes. Type several words and it finds tasks with all of them, in any order. A match that’s hidden, such as a finished task, shows with a dashed outline.
Search every list
Open the sidebar from any page, press ▸ beside All Lists and pick Search All. Type, and only the tasks that match show, from all your lists, under each list’s name.
Under the box are filters. Tap or click one to turn it on, and again to turn it off:
- Labels: a task needs any one of the labels you pick.
- Priorities: a task needs any one of the priorities you pick. None finds tasks with no priority.
- Lists: only tasks in the lists you pick.
Words and each kind of filter work together: 🐸 and !!! finds frogs marked !!!. A filter alone is a search too. Clear empties the words and every filter.
To go to a match, tap or click its place, underlined under its words. ‹ brings you back to your search.
Save a search
- In Search All, type or pick what you want.
- Tap or click Save… at the end of the filters, give it a name, and press Save.
Open it again from the sidebar, where saved searches are under Search All. To change one, open it, change the words or filters, and press Save. Its name’s ▾ has Rename…, Save as new search…, Copy link (for a bookmark or a phone’s home screen) and Delete.
