Run a shared shopping list
Make a plain list for groceries, share it with your household, add to it from anywhere and tick things off in the store.
A shopping list is a list of things, not things to get done. Make it a plain list, share it, and everyone in your home can add to it and tick things off.

Set it up
- Start the list. On Ring Lists, tap or click the dashed + circle, type “Groceries” and press Enter.
- Make it plain. Open the ring’s menu (on a phone, hold the ring until it buzzes, then let go; on a computer, right-click it) and choose Make it a plain list. It then earns no Light and stays out of Today’s Plan. See Plain lists.
- Add a section for each aisle or shop, such as Fruit and vegetables, Dairy and Bakery, in the order you walk them. See Sections.
- Share it. Open the ring’s menu again, choose Share…, type their email, pick Can edit and press Share. They get an email with a link. See Share a list.
Add to it
- In the list: add it under its aisle, as any task. See Add a task.
- From any page, with AI on: press ✨, say “Add oat milk and lemons to Groceries”, then press Next and Do these.
- From another app, on Android: share a recipe or a page to Ring List. It comes in as an Inbox task; open its menu and choose Add to a list….
In the store
Tick each thing off as it goes in the cart: on a phone, swipe it right; on a computer, click its checkbox. It disappears from view, and so does an aisle once everything in it is ticked.
Next time
Turn on Show finished at the top of the list to see what you bought before. Something someone else ticked off says who, such as “done by sam”. Need it again? Untick it: on a phone, swipe it right again, or on a computer untick its checkbox.
To clear old ones away, choose On under Settings › General › Clear away finished tasks: once a day, tasks finished more than 30 days ago are deleted, in all your lists. A list shared with you follows its owner’s setting.
