Add a note
A note holds details that aren’t tasks: under a task, under a section’s title, or under the list’s own title. Tap the note to change it.

A note is a few lines of details: a phone number, what to ask, where the key is. It’s not a task, so it has no checkbox.
Under a task
On a phone
- Tap the task.
- Tap 📝 in the editing tool bar.
- Type the note, then tap away.
On a computer
- Click the task, then 📝 in the editing tool bar. Or right-click the task › 📝 Add a note.
- Type the note, then press Enter.
A task has one note. Its 📝 is grayed out once it has one: tap the note itself to change it.
The note shows under the task’s words wherever the task shows, Today’s Plan too, and Search All finds words in it. A long one shows three lines and more.
Under a section’s title
Tap or click the section’s title, then 📝. On a computer you can also right-click the title › 📝 Add a note.
Under the list’s title
On a phone
Hold the list’s title at the top until a menu opens, then tap 📝 Add a note.
On a computer
Right-click the list’s title at the top › 📝 Add a note.
Change or delete a note
- Change it: tap or click the note and type.
- Delete it: while you’re changing it, tap the ✕ beside it, or empty it. On a computer, the ✕ also shows when you point at the note. Undo brings it back.
- New line: on a computer, press Shift+Enter. Enter on its own saves the note, and Esc leaves it as it was.
