Give a task a priority
Mark a task !!!, !!, ! or ↓ to say how much it matters. Higher ones go to the top of their section and into Top Priorities.

The five levels
| Mark | Means |
|---|---|
| !!! | Drop everything |
| !! | High |
| ! | Elevated |
| no mark | Normal |
| ↓ | Minor |
Set a priority
On a phone
- Tap the task to edit it.
- Tap ↓, !, !! or !!! at the right end of the line of buttons that appears.
On a computer
Right-click the task and pick from the row at the top of the menu: No priority, ↓, !, !! or !!!.
Or click the task to edit it and use the same buttons as on a phone.
The one that’s on is lit. Tap or click it again to go back to no mark.
Or type it
Start the task’s words with !!!, !! or ! and a space. For minor, type v and a space. The mark turns into a badge at the start of the task. Backspace at the very start of the words takes off the last badge before them.
What it changes
- The task moves up or down its section, so the most important come first. See How a list is sorted.
- Every !!!, !! and ! task shows in Top Priorities.
- Important only, at the top of a list, hides everything without a !.
Undo takes a new priority back.
